When it comes to processed food, my best advice is simply: be picky!! Not all pre-fabricated foods are bad for you, it’s just a question of sifting through the junk and finding those hidden treasures. By closely reading labels and getting familiar with a brand you can quickly determine if what they offer is quality or not.

Granola is my life! Love the crunchiness, the flavour and the fact that you can incorporate it into so many dishes. Many Granola brands out there advertise themselves as being healthy, packed with protein and low in fat. Too often, unfortunately, just glancing at the ingredients will give you an entirely different story. This is where I come in and share with you my new fabulous Granola Discovery.

Full-disclosure: I contacted Grandma Emily and they were amazing enough to send multiple Granola products to try and experiment with! This is what I came up with:
Organic Mixed Fruit Granola Parfait Recipe
Simply layer unsweetened greek yogourt ( I used Skyr yogourt), fresh and/or heated fruits (on the stove top) and Grandma Emily’s Organic Mixed Fruit Granola. Top with a little honey! Makes a great breakfast, snack or dessert!
Grain-Free Dark Chocolate Granola French Toast Recipe
A twist on your typical French Toast! Instead of pouring Maple Syrup, I topped them with sliced bananas, Grandma Emily’s Grain-Free Dark Chocolate Granola and improvised a Chocolate Peanut Butter sauce using:
- Cocoa Powder
- Powdered Peanut Butter
- Kaizen Chocolate Isolate Powder
- Maple Syrup
- Water to reach your preferred consistency
It made this creamy topping that was less sweet! The granola worked very well with this dish since the Grain-free ones aren’t particularly crunchy.
Organic Classic Granola Blueberry Banana Smoothie Bowl 🍌 🥣
A smoothie bowl, in case you have never tried it, is like a thick smoothie. It consists of adding frozen fruit and less liquid in the mix to achieve a thicker consistency.
Toppings anyone?! What really makes a smoothie bowl are the toppings. You can sprinkle nuts, fruits, seeds, chocolate but most importantly granola. It’s the best way to create depth in the texture and really adds to the taste. Grandma Emily’s Organic Original Granola seemed like a perfect fit since it would match any fruit flavour.
Organic Classic Granola Mixed Berry Crumble Recipe
My intention when making this crumble was to use the Organic Maple Quinoa Granola but alas, being a tad distracted, I grabbed the Original Granola bag which was already opened in my cupboard. It was a success regardless..
Easiest Berry Crumble Recipe EVER!
In a pie dish, pour as many frozen fruits as you would like. Drizzle a bit of honey or maple syrup over the fruit and cover the fruit surface with your preferred Grandma Emily’s Granola. Place it in a 350F preheated oven and leave it until the fruit starts to bubble and the granola is a darker golden colour, about 15 to 20 minutes.
That’s it, a healthy and delicious instant dessert or breakfast!
There is also no shame in enjoying granola on it’s own. It’s been my “not so guilty pleasure” to grab a bag and munch on it while watching “One Strange Rock” with Will Smith on Netflix (highly recommend that show just so you know!).
